Publication Ethics
The Academic Journal of Medical Sciences (AJMS) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of integrity in scholarly publishing.
The journal follows the ethical principles and best practices established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE),
the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), and the World Association of Medical Editors (WAME).
Ethical Standards for Research
All research involving human participants must comply with the Declaration of Helsinki and be approved by an appropriate ethics committee
or institutional review board. Informed consent must be obtained from all participants or their legal guardians.
Studies involving animals must follow internationally accepted guidelines for the care and use of laboratory animals.
Authors must clearly state compliance with ethical standards in the Methods section of their manuscript.
Research and Publication Misconduct
AJMS strictly prohibits all forms of research and publication misconduct, including:
- Plagiarism and self-plagiarism
- Data fabrication or falsification
- Duplicate or redundant publication
- Improper authorship practices
- Misappropriation of ideas or confidential information
Suspected misconduct will be investigated following COPE guidelines. Confirmed cases may result in rejection, retraction,
notification of institutions, or other appropriate actions.
Authorship and Contributions
Authorship must reflect substantial contributions to the conception, design, data acquisition, analysis, drafting, or revision of the manuscript.
All authors must approve the final version and take responsibility for the integrity of the work.
Guest, honorary, or ghost authorship is not permitted.
Conflict of Interest Disclosure
Authors, reviewers, and editors must disclose any financial, personal, academic, or professional conflicts of interest that may influence
the research or its evaluation. AJMS recommends using the ICMJE Conflict of Interest Disclosure Form.
Editorial and Peer Review Integrity
Editors and reviewers must evaluate manuscripts objectively, maintain confidentiality, and avoid conflicts of interest.
Editorial decisions are based solely on scientific merit, originality, and relevance to the journal’s scope.
Retraction and Corrections
AJMS follows COPE guidelines for retractions, corrections, and expressions of concern.
Articles may be retracted for major ethical violations, data manipulation, or significant errors affecting the validity of the work.
